Week 11: Turkey Burgers

When I was in college, my mother would make beef burgers and turkey burgers, freeze them and send me back to school with them. It was so perfect because I could just throw them in the oven for a few minutes and I had a delicious homemade burger.

With that great memory, I figured it was time to learn how to make my own homemade burgers. Since I bought ground turkey the other day, I decided I would start with turkey burgers, and tackle beef burgers another week.

I used this NY Times recipe as a template, but added a few extra ingredients for flavor, and to hold my burger together.


  • ½ medium onion grated (equals about 2 tablespoons
  • pound lean ground turkey
  • tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Mix all of those ingredients together, and you will end up with a pretty wet mixture, but that is completely fine. With the mixture made, its time to cook these babies!

I heated up a cast iron skillet and poured enough canola oil to cover the bottom. With the pan starting to heat up, I then molded the ground turkey mixture into 5 medium sized patties and placed them into the skillet


A few minutes on each side, and a little char and the burgers were cooked perfectly! I added sriracha mayo, lettuce and avocado to my burger! It was so delicious!


My boyfriend added sriracha mayo, onion, lettuce, american cheese, and bread and butter pickles to his… and he ate two and wanted more.


MMMM! These turkey burgers were so flavorful and moist, I could eat them every day! They were even delicious reheated the next day in the oven!

Super easy to make and so delicious, these are a MUST MAKE!
